The cost savings associated with this business model allowed Millett to incorporate many features for the money. However, there are also compromises involved that can crop up in performance as well. In my review of the x56mm LRS, I pointed out some of the problems associated with overseas sourcing and how they may have affected my particular x56 scope.
However, my experience and many other reviews treat the x50mm TRS-1 scope very well. It performed well until I replaced it with a higher-end optic. How does it stack up? The Millett has a bright image throughout the magnification range. Color rendition and sharpness are not on par with higher-end scopes in this magnification range, but the Millett holds its own against the other review alternatives.
The image maintains edge-to-edge clarity right up to 16x. The eyebox shrinks at higher magnification, but the image was distortion-free nonetheless. It is a subjective and challenging task to measure optical quality with the human eye. Sighting in the scope was easy to do.
Once zeroed, the scope maintained POI through multiple shooting sessions for load development. The turrets are tall, but they have locking rings to prevent unintentional movement. The Millett is the only scope that I know of that has this feature.
The knurled lock ring is located below the turret scale. A turn clockwise locks each knob, and they will not move, a handy feature indeed.
Some may find the turrets a bit stiff to turn, but I prefer them with a bit of resistance. The Millett is mid-weight in its class at The consensus is that this line of scopes is generally reliable with the occasional user affected by QC issues.
The focus knob is firm but not stiff and tracks well with distance. The eyepiece is a fast focus type that quickly brings the reticle into sharp focus.
The ten-position green reticle illuminator comes readily to hand and is easy to turn. Reticle illumination is very bright at maximum setting and is visible in bright sunlight. I have two Millett scopes, for the money, you really can't go wrong. Best Used for: Heavy Caliber Rifles. LRS1 takes a licking and keeps on Reliable and tough. Loaded in carry bag bouncing around in the back of my truck. Holds up both mount and yard zero on my Rem WM 5R Mil spec system which is true to the mark.

One of my friends purchased this scope for me as a gift and after rounds a screw fell out on the inside locking up the magnification ring.
I tried to return it under the warranty,but was told that because I didn't have to original receipt and was not the original purchaser the warranty was void. I contacted Bushnell and tried to explain that it was a gift and I have had it less than 6 months. Do not buy this scope or from millett if you have other options. It has taken a lot of abuse already with no complaints.
The scope is a compromise in two ways. So whatever target distance I calculate using the size of a known object, I must divide that number by 4. The second compromise is that its reticles are in MOA, not 0. Very clear through the eye piece and there is hardly any vignetting even at maximum magnification of 25x.
The scope comes with generic leaflet, no Mil Dot use manual. Totally useless. Illumination is very good.
